The idea for The Hafez and the Wine or Divanı Aşk(Ashk) is, as demonstrates in the name of this work. He was a Persian poet who lauded the joy of love and wine but he targeted the religious and political issues. I have great love for this masterpoem by him. The beginning of this ghazal says:  "If that Shirazi Turk would take my heart in hand, I would remit Samarkand and Bukhārā for her black mole"
